Upon invitation of Annie Leibovitz and UBS, I attended with great delight the preview of the exhibition WOMEN: New Portraits, a series of photographs by Annie commissioned by UBS.

The preview was hosted by Annie herself at the ewz– Unterwerk Selnau, an old transformer station of the Elektrizitätswerke Zürich. After a brief greeting by Mr. Martin Blessing, President Personal & Corporate Banking and President of UBS Switzerland, the iconic photographer provided us with an insight into the portraits exhibited and the stories of women behind them.

Each portrait tells a complete human story and the rawness and true diversity of women showcased in the images is significant. The development of women’s role in society and in different cultures is a topic which can be identified in many of the portraits. These are exhibited democratically as a grid on a bulletin board, symbolising that Annie’s project is still work-in-progress. What I particularly liked was the fact that UBS gave Annie the chance to present to the public her most personal project yet, perfectly complementing the refreshed brand identity of UBS.

‘WOMEN: New Portraits’ by Annie Leibovitz will be on view through 19 February 2017 at the ewz-Unterwerk Selnau in Zurich and admission is free for all visitors. The traveling exhibit has been on a 10-city tour making stops in Tokyo, San Francisco, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mexico City, Istanbul, Frankfurt, and Zurich as the final stop. Definitely worth a visit!

Take care & write to you soon.
