I recently came across a truly innovative concept, beautifully blending Japanese culture, photography, art and fashion.
Modern technology and the extensive use of mobile have caused traditional forms of mail such as snail mail to lose their appeal: Comme des Garçons, one of my favourite brands, is famous for not following trends and staying true to its individual appeal.
“Traditionally going against the stream and norms”, Comme des Garçons transformed its direct mailer into pieces of art, a true collectors item aimed only to its best customers, partners and VIPs- The brand cooperated with the talented artists Ai Weiwei, René Burri or Mondongo.
As it can be seen on the pictures below, the results incorporate vivid, colourful elements, collage and 3D characteristics. The beautiful mailers speak for themselves, and it is worth taking a look at each one of them separately.
